报告摘要/Abstract:

Material dimensionality plays a crucial role in determining material physical properties. In particular, 2D materials like the transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDs) exhibit diverse properties that depend on their composition: semiconductors, semimetals, metals, or superconductors. In exploring and developing these emerging materials for specific applications, in-situ TEM plays an important role in understanding key physical/chemical properties such as phase transformation, stability and characteristic responses to stimuli.

In this talk, I will present our recent in-situ TEM studies on various new and emerging materials of technical interests. Examples include new Mo6Te6 nanowire formation, layer by layer shearing of MoS2, thermal stability of Pd-Rh nano particles, size control of graphene nanopores, and electrically induced phase change/switching behavior.

报告人简介/Brief introduction of speaker:

王金国博士1994年在北京科技大学材料科学与工程专业获得博士学位。他先后于19971999年在美国Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory19992000年在University of California, Irvine从事博士后研究,涉及金属间化合物高温变形及其透射电镜研究;20002006年担任Pennsylvania State University材料研究所透射电镜主管;目前担任University of Texas at Dallas纳米表征中心副主任。他已发表100多篇论文。研究兴趣主要为纳米结构材料HRTEMSTEMEDSEELS表征和纳米电子学。
